Bàcaro in Barca Vine Tasting
Discover the wines of the territory and the cichetti made to accompany them. Or is it vice-versa?
Go beyond the pub crawl for a full-on wine discovery…gliding from one bàcaro to another in a traditional Venetian craft. This 2,5 hour, three-stop tasting is not only a sampler of the wines and cicchetti that has satisfied the demanding Venetian palate for centuries, but an informative tasting as well, all taking place from the comfort of a traditional, wooden, mildly-motorized, open San Pierota.

Venetian wine selections are as endless as they are confounding, featuring regional options of the Tre-Venezie: classics of the Veneto like Prosecco, Soave, Lugana and Valpolicella, aromatics and rare reds of Trentino Alto-Adige, and intense native reds like Refosco and less familiar whites of Friuli Venezia Giulia and even Slovenia such as Malvasia Istriana, Ribolla Gialla, and Pinot Bianco.
We’ll pair our chosen wines with a variety of ‘cichetti’ snacks, ranging from the humble egg-and-anchovy or crispy polpette croquettes (some of the original cicchetti), to traditional whipped bacalà and sarde in saòr, to refined gourmet creations featuring the freshest ingredients and limited only by imaginations of their artisan creators.

Because the freshest cichetti and most convivial atmosphere are before lunch and before dinner, we’ll start at 5:30 pm from May-Oct and 11.30 am from Nov – Mar. We’ll visit three bàcari, but also point out others you may want to visit during the rest of your stay, along with some of our favorite sit-down eateries.
